After arriving in North Carolina for less than half a year, Dr. Xu, a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), opened a clinic on the first floor of the “China Building” near a large Asian grocery store, rented from the North Carolina Triangle Accounting Firm. Known in the community as “Yehudi,” Dr. Xu’s treatments, often effective after just one visit and curing ailments within three, have changed many in the Chinese community’s perception of TCM.
Mr. Niu Zhiwen, the landlord of the “China Building” and founder of the Triangle Accounting Inc, often tells people about Dr. Xu’s miraculous treatments. He personally experienced relief from knee pain that had troubled him for three years after just three acupuncture sessions with Dr. Xu, avoiding the need for stem cell treatment.
Dr. Xu humbly and objectively states that no doctor can cure all diseases, nor can all illnesses be immediately resolved through treatment. TCM is most effective for treating sports injuries, neck and back pain, and joint pain. It also offers remarkable results for conditions that Western medicine struggles to treat or cannot address, such as stroke, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatic nerve pain, insomnia, and infertility.

Dr. Xu holds a doctorate from Hubei University of Chinese Medicine and has accumulated extensive theoretical and clinical experience through teaching and practicing medicine at the university.
After moving to the United States, he passed the federal acupuncture licensure exam and worked in Houston for three years before registering in North Carolina in the fall of 2023. Together with Dr. Li, a licensed massage therapist, he opened “He Yi Tang Acupuncture Clinic.”

What diseases can Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture cure? Dr. Xu provides examples from several typical cases encountered in the few months since the clinic opened:
- Otitis Media A Chinese child suffered from otitis media. The parents, not wanting their child to take antibiotics prescribed by their family doctor, turned to Dr. Xu. After just one acupuncture session, a follow-up a week later revealed the inflammation had been absorbed. The parent, aware of TCM’s ability to treat otitis media from their time in China, was amazed to see such immediate effectiveness from Dr. Xu, exclaiming it was “miraculous.” Dr. Xu specifically notes: If otitis media becomes purulent, he cannot treat it, and the patient should immediately see a Western doctor.
- Facial Paralysis The owner of Chinese restaurant Z experienced sudden paralysis of the right side of the face, with the corner of the eye drooping, drooling from the mouth, inability to fully close the eye, tearing, and disappearance of the forehead lines. After treatment, the condition was cured.
- X-legs L, the owner of a restaurant in Burlington, had legs deformed into an “X” shape, also known as genu valgum. Not only is this condition unsightly, but it can also cause pain in the ankles, knees, and lower back. After treatment, there was a significant improvement in the patient’s condition. Dr. Xu says that correcting “X” and “O” shaped legs is also a specialty of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

- Sports Injury A Duke University student who played basketball for the school team sought help from “He Yi Tang” due to an anterior cruciate ligament tear. At the time, the area around the knee joint was swollen like a bucket, making it impossible to walk, and the pain was so severe that he could not sleep at night. After one acupuncture session with Dr. Xu, the swelling significantly reduced; after three treatments, the swelling completely subsided, allowing him to live normally with a knee brace while waiting for an MRI and surgical treatment at the hospital.
- Postoperative Tremors An elderly American woman found “He Yi Tang” through a Google search. She experienced tremors and was unable to pour water due to a syndrome following cervical spine surgery. After the first acupuncture treatment, her hands stopped trembling, which she found to be absolutely miraculous! Amazed, she called her husband to share the news on the spot. On December 22, she returned for a follow-up visit, bringing the doctor a Christmas gift of homemade candies, surprisingly decorated with “Merry Christmas” written in Chinese she had just learned.

Shingles An elderly American lady suffered from shingles, enduring weeks of agony from the viral outbreak, which she claimed was more painful than giving birth! Painkillers were ineffective, leading to sleepless nights. On her first day of treatment with bloodletting and cupping, she experienced significant relief and, for the first time in weeks, had a good night’s sleep! During her second visit, Dr. Xu performed acupuncture around the area affected by shingles, while also using acupuncture to clear heat and dampness. After the treatment, she woke up full of praise, expressing her desire to let more friends know about the effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture. …
Dr. Xu mentioned that besides the cases described, TCM acupuncture can effectively treat many conditions, such as uneven shoulders, joint issues, and herniated lumbar discs. Dr. Xu and Dr. Li use a combination of acupuncture, cupping, massage, and moxibustion to comprehensively treat different conditions.

Dr. Xu said, “The moxa sticks we use are recorded in the ‘Compendium of Materia Medica’ and come from the hometown of Li Shizhen, Qizhou moxa, which can be used to treat infertility, chronic inflammation, etc.” Dr. Li specifically reminds those using moxa at home that since moxa sticks are very yang, the best treatment times are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Using moxa too late might affect sleep. On the official website of “He Yi Tang,” Dr. Xu speaks frankly, “My mission is clear: to provide comprehensive care so that my patients can focus on living their best lives. Healing is my passion, and your happiness is my goal.”
